Cross, 49, prominent auto dealer of Wabash, died early Friday morning in the Wabash County hospital where he had been critically ill for the last two weeks. He had been in ill health for more than a year. Mr. Cross, a native of Lincolnville, had lived in Wabash for more than 25 years. He first established an auto repair business in a small building back of what is now the Hettmansperger service station. Cross, 49, prominent auto dealer of Wabash, died early Friday morning in the Wabash County hospital where he had been critically ill for the last two weeks. He had been in ill health for more than a year. Mr. Cross, a native of Lincolnville, had lived in Wabash for more than 25 years. He first established an auto repair business in a small building back of what is now the Hettmansperger service station. He opened a Plymouth-DeSoto agency in the building on the corner of South Huntington and East Canal streets in 1932. Later, in 1938, he moved to his present location at 19 South Wabash street. Mr. Cross was an active member of the Christian church, the American Legion and Exchange Club. He was a past president of the latter organization. He was born Sept. 15, 1896 to George and Emma (Weller) Cross. He was married to Louise Sailors in Wabash on May 8, 1920. Surviving are the widow, one son, John A. Cross, who was recently discharged from the service, and one sister, Mrs. Estel Kulb, Lincolnville. The body ahs been taken to the Hoover Funeral home where friends may call until time for the services which will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Christian church. The Rev. Elwood Dunn will officiate and burial will be in Falls cemetery.
