Smith, paster of the Elsmore Methodist church, Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Jacobson, 86 years old, was a native of Denmark, who came to Kansas from Wisconsin about 1870. He went through the entire land league troubles, was an old soldier, served a number of years as railway mail clerk and was a prominent figure in south Allen county. Peter Christian Jacobson was born in Denmark, August 26, 1838, and grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth. He departed this life January 5, 1925, at the ripe old age of 86 years, 4 months and 10 days. He came to America in the year of 1861 and landed at Green Bay, Wis., where worked at his trade as a shoemaker until August 14 1862. He enlisted as a volunteer in the twenty-third regiment of Wisconsin volunteers, company A. Was in service three years, three months, participated in the battles of Corinth, Vicksburg, Red River Expedition and Gettysburg; also "Serman's March to the Sea." Was discharged Jun 3, 1865. Mr. Jacobson was married to Mary Jensen at Green Bay, Wis., November 28, 1865. To this union were born five children: Charles C. of Savonburg: Sarah A. Foster, Craig Colo: Benjamin F. of Good Hope, Ill: Marion W. of Savonburg: Ida M.Barker, of Kansas City. They moved to Little Rock, Ark., in 1869, where lived 2 years, then moved to Kansas, near St. Paul. In 1879 moved to Allen county, settled and improved his late home, until his death. His wife preceded him on November 15, 1920. He then made his home with his son, Charles C. Jacobson, until his death. SOURCE; Humbolt Union Thursday 8 January 1925
