Description	:	Peter D. Printz was born Per Printz in Åsen, Alfta parish, Gävleborg, Sweden. He emigrated from Sweden with his father, step-mother, brothers, a sister, a grandmother and a cousin on May 28, 1869, setting sail from Gothenburg on the ship, "Elds." The family first went to Illinois, probably in the Henry County area, where others from Alfta parish had gone before to the famous, Bishop Hill Swedish colony. Within a year, the family set out for Clay County, Kansas, where their father farmed, and where a number of other Swedish immigrants from this period also migrated. Read More	Peter D. Peter also was a farmer, though he was listed as a house plasterer in 1910. He was a naturalized citizen and served on the school board for the Wheeler School District in Clay County. He was a member of the Farmer's Union, Wheeler Local, Clay County; and the Modern Woodmen, Idana Camp, Clay County. He was also a member of the Swedish Methodist Church in Clay Center. Peter seems to have followed his future wife, Anna Catherine Hedwall, widow of Andrew Sjoblom, out to Portland, Oregon, where they were married December 8, 1902, and where their first two children, Ruth L. Printz and John H. Printz, were born. Peter was also step-father to Anna's son, Carl Edwin Sjoblom, who took the surname, Printz. Three more children were born to the couple after they moved back to Kansas; Harold A. Printz, Lawrence Walter Printz, and Frederic Printz.
