Description	:	Peter Wahe and Bonnie Parrott were married February 19, 1908 at Exira, Iowa. They lived with his parents south of Adair, Iowa a short time. They then rented a farm near the coal mine, called the Colbank place. It was 6 miles south of Adair and ½ mile west on the south side of the road and down a long lane. Read More	Peter Wahe and Bonnie Parrott were married February 19, 1908 at Exira, Iowa. They lived with his parents south of Adair, Iowa a short time. They then rented a farm near the coal mine, called the Colbank place. It was 6 miles south of Adair and ½ mile west on the south side of the road and down a long lane. Their children, Velma and Margaret were born there. About 1918 they bought an 80 acre farm located 4 miles south, 1 mile east, 1 mile south and ¼ mile east of Adair. They bought it from a J.P. Meechan (sp) who owned a great deal of land near there. About 1921 or 1922 they bought an additional 80 acres on the north side of the road for $300 an acre. This was post World War II prices. Their original farm and buildings were on the soouth side of the road. In the depression years it was very hard to pay for this when all land prices and crop prices dropped drastically. Pete and Bonnie worked hard and finally finished paying for this about 1939. They were very relieved to have the farm paid for. In 1950 they sold their farm and moved to Adair, Iowa where they lived until their deaths in 1953 and 1959. They are buried in the Canby cemetery 6 miles south and 4 miles east of Adair. Pete would drive Model T cars, but when they improved the automobile he would never learn how to operate them. His wife, Bonnie did all the driving. Pete suffered from severe asthma and at harvest time he endured many physical handicaps trying to get his breath. He was a very quiet, soft spoken man who never drank or smoked, He worked 7 days a week to improve his farm and buildings. He seldom went ot town. His relaxation was playing the accordion. His wife, Bonnie, was an outspoken person. Her enjoyment was her flower gardens and driving the automobile. Information found by Evelyn L.
