Description	:	He was the son of the late Peter H. Dantzler and Lurlee Bannister Dantzler. He was a graduate of Providence High School and of Clemson College in 1940, and later received a Master's of Science Degree from Clemson. He was always very proud of his alma mater, and he received the distinction of being named by Agri Business as one of the top 15 persons in S.C. in the past 75 years who contributed the most to agriculture in South Carolina. Dantzler and Lurlee Bannister Dantzler. He was a graduate of Providence High School and of Clemson College in 1940, and later received a Master's of Science Degree from Clemson. He was always very proud of his alma mater, and he received the distinction of being named by Agri Business as one of the top 15 persons in S.C. in the past 75 years who contributed the most to agriculture in South Carolina. He taught agriculture in the public school system for a total of 38 years. After beginning his teaching career in Georgia, he later taught for 19 years in Branchville, SC and for 18 years in Cameron, SC. Over the years, his agriculture teams judged livestock, poultry and soil, winning numerous state championships. His teams participated nine times in the National Land Judging Championship in Oklahoma City, OK. His Parliamentary Procedure teams won the S. C. State Championship five years consecutively. Mr. P.H. was known by all to be an excellent teacher and principal and later in his career as the Assistant Superintendent of the Calhoun County Public Schools. He is also remembered for being a great coach, winning five straight baseball state championships at Branchville, plus coaching five undefeated Little League teams and one state championship Pony League team. In honor of his teaching and coaching success in Branchville, he was selected to serve as the Grand Marshall of the town's first Raylroad Daze Festival. He was deeply devoted to the Cameron Methodist Church and served in many capacities, including church treasurer for over 30 years. Along with his wife Irene he contributed to many charitable causes, among them the King's Daughter's Home in Orangeburg. He was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Emily Lancaster Dantzler; his brothers, Boyd F. Dantzler and W. Zaco Dantzler; and his sister M. Ruth Dantzler. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Irene Fairey Dantzler; his only son, Ellis Howard Dantzler (Frances) of Lexington; and grandchildren, Lisa Ferris (Zane) of Elgin, Todd E. Dantzler, M.D., of Charleston, and Chad H. Dantzler (KelLeigh) of Lexington; a niece, Irene Hood of Rowesville; and two great-grandchildren, Roan Ferris and Luke Ferris of Elgin.
