Read More	f/o Edward and Charles R, b/o George of Guernsey WY, came to Boone 1852, was harness maker, from Boone Co News 29 May 1908 Boone County Democrat May 29, 1908 Peter Hoyer, one of the well known pioneer settlers of Boone and a resident here for many years, passed away at his home in Guernsey, Wyoming, at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, May 26th., after a short illness with Bright's disease. He was in his usual health up to Friday evening when he was taken ill. Word was sent to his two sons, Ed Hoyer of this city and Chas Hoyer of Ida Grove and both went to Guernsey at once. The remains were brought to Boone, arriving here on No. 6, Wednesday evening, and were taken to the Mann undertaking parlors. Thursday morning they were taken to the home of his brother, I.R. Hoyer, in the Fifth ward where they were viewed by many old friends. The funeral services were held from the Marion Street M.E. Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Cannom and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in Linwood cemetery beside those of his wife who died thirty eight years ago. Peter Hoyer was born in Ohio sixty eight years ago. He came to Boone in 1852 and for a number of years was engaged in the harness making business with Chas. Goetzman, having charge of a shop in Boonsboro. In February, 1866 he was married to Miss Louisa Pilcher and to them were born three children. The mother died in 1870 and an infant daughter passed away shortly afterward. The survivors are two sons, Ed Hoyer, a prosperous farmer residing just west of Boone and Chas. R. Hoyer, who has been for the past ten years, county clerk of Ida County. He is also survived by two brothers, I.R. Hoyer of this city and George Hoyer of Guernsey, Wyoming and two sisters, Mrs. James Barclay of Madrid and Mrs. George Dillon of Conrad, Nebraska, all of whom were present for the funeral except the brother George. Other relatives here were J.H. Pilcher, Mrs. John Barrett and Mrs. Cal Maritz of Ida Grove, brother and sisters of Mrs. Hoyer and Mrs. Chas. R. Hoyer of Ida Grove. Mr. Hoyer left Boone in 1877 and went to the Black Hills where he remained for five years then crossed over into Wyoming and built the first log cabin that was erected in that valley and resided in until his death.
