They immigrated to Hancock, Michigan in 1881 where, Peter worked in the copper mines and lumber camps for 11 years. In 1892 they came to South Dakota and bought timber claim rights for the NE 1/4 of Section 35 in Dixon Touwnship, Hamlin County, SD. They lived in a sod dugout and used oxen for power until acquiring horses in 1907. They later moved to the NW 1/4 of Section 35 in Dixon Township. They had 11 children, four of...
