Description	:	Peter Jorgensen, farmer residing west of Creighton, passed away Saturday morning at 5:30. Death was due to hardening of the arteries and complications of old age. The deceased was born in Skagen, West Jutland, Denmark, on April 5, 1858, and died on August 15, 1942, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and ten days. Death was due to hardening of the arteries and complications of old age. The deceased was born in Skagen, West Jutland, Denmark, on April 5, 1858, and died on August 15, 1942, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and ten days. Shortly after birth he was baptised, and grew up in his native country, where he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After reaching his adult years, he was married to Marie Moll [Hojen]. Four children were born, two of whom preceded their father in death. Two years following the death of his first wife, he was united in wedding to Marie Petersen. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom are living. Mr. Jorgensen came to America with his family in 1904. He first settled in Nebraska in Wayne county and a few years later came to Knox county where he has lived until death called him. Left to mourn are his wife and sons, Joseph of Niobrara, John of South Dakota, Maurice, Ervin and David of Riceville, Ia., Carl and Raymond of Creighton; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Scheer of Riceville, Mrs. Helen Placek of Omaha, Mrs. Nathaniel Hansen of Blair, besides grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous friends. He is also survived by four brothers, Dan, John, Chris, and Marius Jorgensen and four sisters, Mrs. James Nielsen, Mrs. Lars Larsen, Mrs. Chris Christensen and Mrs. Sorensen. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the house, and 1:30 at the Berthesda Danish Lutheran church in Winnetoon with pastor, Rev. Staby, in charge of the rites. A trio of ladies, Mrs. R.L. Sorensen, Mrs. Erwin Nielsen, and Mrs. August Pageler sang two numbers. Swen Sorensen, of Plainview sang a solo in Danish, the song being a favorite of the deceased. A large concourse of relatives and friends were present for a final tribute to this esteemed man and a large collection of floral tributes were manifestations of high regard. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Sons and nephews of Mr. Jorgensen served as pall bearers. Published in The Creighton News, 20 Aug 1942.
