Description	:	Peter Mersch, 91, Toronto, S. D., a former Sioux City resident, died Wednesday at a Vermillion, S. D., hospital after a long illness. Mr. Mersch was born Oct. 11, 1880, at Reimberg, Luxembourg. He came to the United States May 10, 1897. He married Anna Goetzinger Feb. 22, 1905, at Alton, Iowa. D., a former Sioux City resident, died Wednesday at a Vermillion, S. D., hospital after a long illness. Mr. Mersch was born Oct. 11, 1880, at Reimberg, Luxembourg. He came to the United States May 10, 1897. He married Anna Goetzinger Feb. 22, 1905, at Alton, Iowa. The couple lived at Adrian, Minn., for several years until moving to Le Mars, Iowa, in 1909, where he was employed by Plymouth Milling Co. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1919, and Mr. Mersch was employed by the Sioux City Transit System for 29 years, retiring May 25, 1948. Mrs. Mersch died May 17, 1961, in Sioux City. Mr. Mersch moved to Toronto about six years ago. He had been a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Local 779, Amalgamated Transit Union, in Sioux City. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Mary) Stephenson and Mrs. Ivil G. (Cecelia) Spaulding, both of Sioux City; five sons, Edwin, Clyde and Cletus, all of Sioux City, Fred of Elk Point and John of Toronto; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Manning-O’Toole Funeral Home. The Sioux City Journal, February 17, 1972 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Funeral services for Peter Mersch, 91, Toronto, S. D., a former Sioux Cityan, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church here. The Rev. Loran Fuchs, assistant pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Manning-O’Toole Funeral Home. Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Charles Stephenson and Alvin, Fred, Joseph, Roger, Clyde and Dennis Mersch. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Mersch died Wednesday at a Vermillion, S. D., hospital after a long illness. The Sioux City Journal, February 18, 1972
