Read More	Dayton Review May 9, 1946 SERVICES FOR PETER MUNSON LAST SATURDAY Funeral services were held Saturday for Peter Munson, of Burnside, at the Burnside Lutheran Church. He passed away last Wednesday afternoon, May 1st at 5:10 p.m. after a short illness. Services were held at the home at 1:30 p.m., opening with a hymn, "There is a Gate That Stands Ajar," by Mrs. Harold Kling and Mrs. John Barkley, accompanied by Mrs. Harvey Samuelson. Rev. C.E. Benander, pastor of the church, gave scripture reading and prayer. Services were held at the church at 2:00 p.m. with the church filled to capacity, with the Rev. C.E. Benander officiating. Mrs. Harvey Samuelson rendered two hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "The Old Rugged Cross." Also, a hymn, "Nearer My God to Thee," was sung by Mrs. Harold Kling and Mrs. John Barkley. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Munson which included, Stanley Anderson, Melvin Anderson, Carl Anderson, Darrel Anderson, Gerald Larson and Stanley Johnson. Flowers were arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sandstrom and Arthur and Emma Peterson. Interment was held at the Dayton cemetery with the Swanson funeral home in charge of the arrangements. OBITUARY of Peter Munson Peter Munson, son of Louis and Batilda Munson, was born in Soxtop, Skåne, Sweden, May 30, 1873, and passed away to his eternal home May 1 at the age of 73 years and 11 months. He was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sweden and came to America at the age of 15 to Greenview, Illinois. In 1894, he settled in Burnside and helped in constructing the Lutheran church. He has been a faithful and active worker. He served as trustee for many years as well as congregational secretary for a number of years. He was a great lover of music, especially in singing. He took great interest in seeing his children attend Sunday School and church regularly. He was united in holy wedlock October 1, 1913, to Mrs. Hulda Johnson. Their home was blessed by two children, Mrs. Kenneth Koppen and Franklin Munson, both of Burnside, and one stepson, Clifford Johnson of Burnside, also five grandchildren, which were his pride and joy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one daughter and two sons, three sisters, Mrs. Phillip Thomann, Mrs. Carl Anderson of Dayton and Betty of Sweden and many other relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death as well as one brother, Adolph, and one sister, Mrs. Louis Larson, both of Dayton. Sun set and evening star, And one clear call for me. Note: Peter (Per) was actually born in 1871 on May 30. He was the son of Louis Munson and Bothilda Olsdotter. His parents were never married to each other, but both later married to other people. His mother stayed in Sweden and his father emigrated to America.
