Description	:	Dayton Review Thursday, February 6, 1913 OBITUARY Peter Ostrom [Åström in Swedish], who passed away at his home in Dayton last Sunday morning, aged eighty years, five months, was another of the early pioneers of this region, whose labors and privations helped build up a hardy frontier into a prosperous community. He was born in Gästrickland, Sweden, in August, 1832, grew to manhood in the land of his birth, and came to America in 1857, settling in Illinois, where he lived a year. Read More	Dayton Review Thursday, February 6, 1913 OBITUARY Peter Ostrom [Åström in Swedish], who passed away at his home in Dayton last Sunday morning, aged eighty years, five months, was another of the early pioneers of this region, whose labors and privations helped build up a hardy frontier into a prosperous community. He was born in Gästrickland, Sweden, in August, 1832, grew to manhood in the land of his birth, and came to America in 1857, settling in Illinois, where he lived a year. He came to Dayton in 1858, and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He was married to Miss Caroline Nelson in December, 1864, and together they settled upon the homestead just northwest of town, where he lived so many years. Mrs. Nelson passed away August 20, 1893. On March 14, 1895, he was again married to Miss Mary Applegrain, who died September 12th of that same year. February 2, 1905, he was again married to Mrs. Augusta Lindgren, who survives him, and he has since lived in town. His funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the Swedish M. E. Church, his pastor, Rev. Johnston, conducting the services and his remains were laid to rest in Dayton cemetery. Mr. Ostrum was highly respected by all who knew him, and as one of the early settlers of this community, had a host of lifelong friends, whose sympathy is extended to the bereaved widow in her hour of sorrow.
