Description	:	Peter Block, 97, the fifth child of eight, was born to Peter Block and Dorothea Ringsted Block Sept. 12, 1898 in Norre Kongerslev, Denmark. He died at the Good Samaritan Home in Superior, Nebraska on September 25, 1995 at the age of 97 years and 13 days. In 1912, at the age of 14, along with two brothers and two sisters, he and his parents immigrated to the United States entering through Ellis Island. Read More	Peter Block, 97, the fifth child of eight, was born to Peter Block and Dorothea Ringsted Block Sept. 12, 1898 in Norre Kongerslev, Denmark. He died at the Good Samaritan Home in Superior, Nebraska on September 25, 1995 at the age of 97 years and 13 days. In 1912, at the age of 14, along with two brothers and two sisters, he and his parents immigrated to the United States entering through Ellis Island. Three member of the family had already arrived and were living near Chicago. In 1912, they continued to Ruskin, and from there to a farm three miles north of Bostwick. He was confirmed in the Bethany Lutheran Church near Ruskin. After working on his parents' farm, he started farming for himself two miles west of his parents. He was united in marriage to Viola Leticia King on May 14, 1930, at Burr Oak Baptist Church, Troy, Kan. In 1970, after 40 years of farming, they moved to Superior. He transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church in Superior. Failing health forced a move to the Good Samaritan Home in 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Dorothea Ringsted Blick, four brothers, Andrew, Lawrence (Lauritz), Julius and Chris Block, and three sisters, Mrs. Karen Jensen, Gerda Nielsen and Mrs. Christine Hanson. Survivors include his wife and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday from the First Baptist Church, Superior, with the Rev. Tom Hinshaw officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Megrue-Price Funeral Home, was in charge of the arrangements. Casket Bearers were, Max Thayer, Jay Nielsen, Dwayne Bostelman, Eddie Moorehead, Burdette Hanson, and Kenneth Duncan. Their original family name was Andreason, then changed to Bloch, and later to Block.
