Read More	From The Grand Island Independent, January 19, 1949, transcribed by Linda Berney: Peter Paulsen, Long Ill, Dies - Retired Union Pacific Employee Succumbs at Age of 81 - Peter T. Paulsen, 81, died Tuesday afternoon at the family home, 322 East First, after a lingering illness. Mr. Paulsen was born Sept. 9, 1867 at Vilslev, Denmark. He came with his parents to the United States 13 years later and located near Dannebrog. When he was a young man, he drove a stage coach from Hot Springs, S. D. to Wind Cave, S. D. and later he operated a ranch in South Dakota. He and Edith Stabler were married in June of 1892 at Hot Springs. They moved to Grand Island in 1916 and Mr. Paulsen was employed by the Union Pacific railroad until his retirement in 1938. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Denmark. He was a member of Ashlar Lodge No 33 A. F. & A. M. Andrew Chapter No 41 OES and the Union Pacific Oldtimers' club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Travis, Cocoa Fla, and Mrs. Christy Davies, Long Beach, Cal; one son, Paul R. Paulsen, Gering; one sister, Mrs. Pauline K. Jones, Los Angeles, Cal; and 3 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements, which are awaiting word from relatives, have not been completed.
