The remains reached here on Saturday forenoon and on Sunday, March 19th, the funeral services were held, later the remains being conveyed to Dannebrog, where they were interred. Christina Paulsen was born April 17, 1860 at Gredsted, Denmark. She made her home in Denmark until January 1879, when she came to Nebraska, coming to Dannebrog, and on March 5th of that year she was united in marriage with Peter Jepson. The Jepson family resided in Dannebrog until 1889 when they moved to California. After one year they returned to Dannebrog and after remaining there for about three years, when they moved to Rockville where they lived for some time, about seven years, after which they moved to Elba, and where they resided until 1911. In the fall of that year the Jepson family moved to Florida and they have made their home there ever since. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jepson, four of whom are living. They are: L. P. Jepson, Mrs. J. E. McCullough and H. E. Jepson, Indian River City,Florida and Mrs. Fred A. Skow of Elba. Besides the children and her devoted companion of a life time, she leaves three sisters and two brothers to mourn her death. Mrs. Jepson was not in the best of health during the past two years, but it was not known that her condition was as serious as it proved to be. During the early part of the present month her condition became so alarming that it was agreed that an operation was the only hope of saving her life. Consequently she underwent an operation on Wednesday, March 8th in a hospital in St. Augustine, Florida. She, withstood the operation in nice shape and every hope was held out for her recovery until Tuesday, March 14th, alarming symptoms developed and nothing that medical skill, loving hands or human ingenuity could do availed anything and the dread messenger of death relieved the suffering woman on Wednesday, March 15th, she being, on the day of her death 55 years, 10 months and 29 days old. Immediately after her death her remains were shipped to Elba, the old home, where they were taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Skow, on Saturday, and the following afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, the funeral service was held in the U.B. church, Rev. J. Chr. Pedersen of Dannebrog, having charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Pontius. After the services were concluded the remains were conveyed to Dannebrog where they were interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Jepson was one of the most kind and gentle women that it has been the pleasure of the Phonograph to know, and we regret exceedingly that she has been called to cease her earthly labors. She leaves a fine family of children as a monument to her goodness, kindness and above all to the lady-like instincts that guided her through life. The funeral was largely attended. Many friends and former associates were present from a distance and it was one of the largest funerals held in Elba in years. The large crowd showed in a marked degree the respect in which she was held. Another evidence was the large amount of flowers sent by friends and neighbors. The Phonograph desires to add its few words of condolence to the bereaved family, especially to that lonely man who is thus bereft of a life long companion. May he be given the comfort that all good worthy men are entitled to in such trying times. Card of Thanks-- We desire to take this method of returning our sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors for their assistance during our recent brereavement, the loss of our beloved wife and mother. Especially do we want to thank the choir, those who furnished such beautiful floral offerings and to those who came from such a distance to attend the funeral.
