Believed to be buried in a family cemetery on the Turley plantation on White Oak Creek, near the Robert Williams plantation and the Robert Williams Family Cemetery, five miles south of Kershaw. Nephew of Col. John West IV and Col. Charles Broadwater of Fairfax County, Virginia. Most researchers give his father as their half-brother Peter Turley (Sr.), while some think he was a nephew, the son of James or Paul Turley. His grandmother was Elizabeth Semmes Turley West Broadwater (1672-1753). Peter Turley Sr. (c1709-1781) married Sarah Innes (b. c1720), said to be the sister of Hugh Innes, burgess, and a daughter of William Innes and Martha (Mackey) Innes from Scotland. William Innes was the son of Berowald Innes and wife Jean Falconer, daughter of Colin Falconer, Bishop of Moray, and Lilias Rose. Arthur Edwards and His Five Generation Posterity by Anthony Christensen states that Peter Turley Sr. was the son of James and Sarah (Simmons) Turley, James being the son of Elizabeth Semmes Turley West Broadwater.
