K of the 22nd WI Infantry during the Civil War. Mary died in 1899 and Peter was remarried on 30 October 1900 in Lancaster Co., NE to Eliza Betts Bennett. NOTE: I have used the DOB from Peter's obituary as this also matches the DOB given for his twin brother, William, on William's grave marker. Peter's grave marker lists his DOB as 19 June 1833, but this marker appears to be a newer stone and not one from his time of death. His obituary from the Nebraska State Journal lists his DOB as 23 May 1833. It's a fairly thorough obituary, so I'm inclined to believe that date is correct. However, I have no legal proof that either date is his actual DOB. __________ OBITUARY P. W. Feather Adams, Neb. Dec. 21 - Mr. P. W. Feather, an aged and highly respected citizen, as well as a veteran and member of Cox post No. 100, G.A.R., died rather suddenly at his home in Adams Wednesday, after an illness of only about two hours. Mr. Feather was born in Mercer county, Penn., May 23, 1833. In 1856 went to Morgan county, Ohio, where he was married to Mary Wagner in 1857. From there he went to Green county, Wisconsin, in 1859 and in 1862 enlisted in company K, Twenty-second regiment Wisconsin infantry volunteers. While in the war he was taken prisoner and was in Libby prison for a time, after which he was made orderly sergeant, this serving until its close. He was also wounded while serving, receiving a bullet in his neck and passing through under the shoulder blade, for which he was receiving a pension. From Wisconsin he removed to Nebraska in 1868, where he took a homestead in Johnson county, near Sterling. In 1876 he exchanged for Gage county land, which he farmed until 1882, when he removed to Adams and went into the hotel business, until the death of his wife, in 1899. Mr. Feather was married a second time to Mrs. Elja* Bennett, in 1900, who now survives him. There were born to Mr. Feather by his first wife nine children*, five of whom still live four daughters and one son, two daughters and the son living at Lincoln, and two daughters at this place, all of whom are married. Mr. Feather was a member of the Methodist church from which the funeral services took place this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. H. W. Cope, pastor, assisted by the resident pastors, after which the remains were taken to the cemetery, followed by the members of the post, relatives and a host of friends.
