Description	:	In 1907 Petertje married Hendrik Schoonekamp, and three-and-a-half years later, they immigrated to Canada with the Oldegbers family. Petertje and Hendrik did not really want to leave the Netherlands, but Petertje's mother did not want to leave any of her children behind, so they agreed to go along. The Schoonekamp's first residence was a shack in Edmonton, often shared with others who had no family. Their two daughters, Jana (Jennie) and Albertje Johanna (Annie) were born there. The Schoonekamp's first residence was a shack in Edmonton, often shared with others who had no family. Their two daughters, Jana (Jennie) and Albertje Johanna (Annie) were born there. In 1915 when Annie was only six weeks old, the family moved to Neerlandia, where they lived in a little sod-roofed shack. Two more children were born to them: Roelfje (Rulie) in 1917 and Albert Jan, the only son, in 1921. It was the same year that Hendrik received a patent for his land, and at that time they had eleven head of cattle and five-and-a-half acres in crop. Petertje helped as a midwife, a trade she learned from her mother.
