He was baptized March 17, 1912. and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on May 16, 1926. On July 8. 1942, he left for military service in the army and was stationed at Camp Carson, Colo., for some 20 months. He then participated in army maneuvers in Louisiana and at Camp Roberts, Calif. From there he was sent to Ft. Meade Md, and then to England, in July 1944. While overseas he... Read More	Source: Stanton Register, Thursday, May 24, 1945 Elmer Heinrich Friedrich Koehlmoos was born on February 9, 1912, near Pilger. Nebraska, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koehlmoos. He was baptized March 17, 1912. and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on May 16, 1926. On July 8. 1942, he left for military service in the army and was stationed at Camp Carson, Colo., for some 20 months. He then participated in army maneuvers in Louisiana and at Camp Roberts, Calif. From there he was sent to Ft. Meade Md, and then to England, in July 1944. While overseas he received the Infantry Medal. He was at first reported missing in action In Germany on Nov 30, 1944. Later he was reported killed in action on that date. His grave is in an American Military Cemetery in Belgium. He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. Mourners include his parents, four sisters and four brothers: Clarence, Pilger, Sgt. Adolph, in occupied Germany. Esther, Mrs. Fred Heller, Beemer, Ella, Mrs. Laurence Klawonn, Norfolk, Pfc Henry, somewhere in the Southwest Pacific; Arnold, Arlene and Lillian at home. He Is also survived by a sister-in-law. Mrs. Adolph Koehlmoos. and two brothers-in-law, Fred Heller, Beemer, and Cpl. Laurence Klawonn, in occupied Germany; two nephews, Lloyd and Ronald Dean Heller; and two nieces, Lynelle Fae Klawonn and Francell Mae Koehlmoos. Contributor: Kent Pauling # 47438725
