Would Have Received Discharge from U.S. Army Air Force This Month, 18 Years of Age. Waldemar Junker, only son of John Junker and Elsine Miller Junker, was born September 26, 1927 and departed this life August 10, 1947 at the age of 19 years, 10 months and 15 days. He lived on a farm east of Gothenburg all of his life, until entering the service January 17, 1946, He received his education in school district No. 81. In infancy he was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend C. H. Kemper. June 20, 1943 and remained a Lutheran all of his life. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ludthe on August 2, 1946 at Grand Island. They lived at Marin City, California where Waldemar was stationed at Hamilton Field. He was there until going into Ledderman General Hospital in San Francisco where he passed away Sunday, August 10, 1947, at 10:15, of acute leukemia. While in the Army Air Forces he was stationed at Sheppard Field, Texas, Geiger Field, Washington, and Hamilton Field, California. He was awaiting his discharge on August 16, 1947. His father preceded him in death, June 18, 1945. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his mother Mrs. Elsine Junker, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, August 18th, at Zion Lutheran Church, in charge of the church pastor, Rev. C. K. Kemper. Pallbearers were Harold Junker, Virgil Junker, Arthur Miller, Roland Lauer, Raymond Junker, and Buddy Franzen.
