Description	:	PFC Leonard Pedersen was born to his loving parents Rasmus and Elsie Maria "Marie" (Bovbjerg) Pedersen on Friday March 15, 1918 at Scribner, Dodge County Nebraska. Leonard was raised on an Ames, Dodge County farm where a new house having the GPS of 41.543007, -96.674690 was built, I believe the house Leonard was raised in was just to the south of this new house. Read More	PFC Leonard Pedersen was born to his loving parents Rasmus and Elsie Maria "Marie" (Bovbjerg) Pedersen on Friday March 15, 1918 at Scribner, Dodge County Nebraska. Leonard was raised on an Ames, Dodge County farm where a new house having the GPS of 41.543007, -96.674690 was built, I believe the house Leonard was raised in was just to the south of this new house. I myself was raised about three quarter miles to the east southeast as the crow would fly. My family farm building site had a GPS estimate of 41.540971, -96.664389 and has all since been removed. Leonard probably attended elementary school at district 30 with a site GPS estimate of 41.546746, -96.693258, the school house has since been removed too. Leonard did attend Scribner high but left early to help his father with farming choses. Leonard entered the service in March of 1942 and trained at Camp Barkley in Texas. Leonard's last furlough home was in January of 1944. Shortly after returning to camp Leonard was sent overseas to England. Leonard's father believes Leonard was sent to France shortly after D-Day. Sadly Leonard was killed in action in France on Tuesday July 4, 1944 at the age of 26 years, 3 months, 19 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 9,608 days. Leonard was the seventh to give the supreme sacrifice in this world conflict and the first in his company to pass away on France soil. Leonard received numerous commendation medals, a Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, and Army Good Conduct Medal. Leonard was first interred in France, later his parents had his remains returned to the United States to be placed in the family plot at the Fremont Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service was held at the Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Fremont on Sunday August 20, 1944 with the Rev. M. C. Hagedorn officiating. A military citation was presented to his parents by the Jay Wormwood Post of the Scribner American Legions. Leonard's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Leonard by a family friend Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed.
