He died suddenly Thursday, December 28, 1967 at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 29 days. Amunson, 60 Merrill A. Amunson, better known as "Hobbin" Amunson, was born September 29, 1907 at Soldier, the son of Olaf and Hanora Amunson. He died suddenly Thursday, December 28, 1967 at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 29 days. Merrill had lived in the Soldier community all his life except for the time he spent in the Army during World War II. He was a mechanic by vocation and worked with farm machinery and had been employed by Carlson Hardware in Soldier for almost 33 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Soldier. He also held a membership in the American Legion, Soldier Valley Post No. 462. Survivors include four brothers, Clifford, Milton and Lowell of Soldier and Kermit of Ute; for sisters, Mrs. Elaine Norby of Soldier, Mrs. Paul Flynn of Ute, Mrs. Wallace Hanson of Sioux City and Mrs. Vernon York of Lancaster, Calif.; also many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 1967 at the Lutheran Church in Soldier Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiated. The Quartet of Gene Brenden, Gordon Foss, Gordon Swenson and James Severson sang "My God And I" and "Just As I Am", accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Charles Domme Jr. Readers for the service were Richard Flynn Dale Amunson, Garland Amunson, Ronald Amunson, Gary Amunson, and David Amunson. Interment was in the Lutheran Church cemetery. Military honors were shown by Soldier Valley Post No. 462, American Legion, Don Pedersen, commander. Arrangements were by the Pearson funeral home of Soldier.
