Description	:	OBITUARY - Keokuk County News -SHERMAN BROWN _ May 14,1953 - Sherman Brown, son of Rezin and Elizabeth Mullinnix Brown was born on a farm northwest of Sigourney Oct 28 1892. .He received his education in the Sigourney schools, graaduating from high school in 1913, and helped on the farm at home until he was called into service Sept. 20, 1917. He received his training at Camp Dodge, saw service overseas and was wounded Sept. 12, 1918. He received an honorable discharge May 17, 1919. Read More	OBITUARY - Keokuk County News -SHERMAN BROWN _ May 14,1953 - Sherman Brown, son of Rezin and Elizabeth Mullinnix Brown was born on a farm northwest of Sigourney Oct 28 1892. .He received his education in the Sigourney schools, graaduating from high school in 1913, and helped on the farm at home until he was called into service Sept. 20, 1917. He received his training at Camp Dodge, saw service overseas and was wounded Sept. 12, 1918. He received an honorable discharge May 17, 1919. Mr. Brown took up farming again, northwest of Sigourney for a number of years until he started working at the Bruns Seed House and in later years has been engaged in painting. He was a member of the Methodist CHurch, Odd Fellows lodge and V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one brother, Rollin of Sigourney in 1941. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs Roy Gemmill of Sherburn, MN, Alta at home, Frank of Sigourney and Charley of Baton Rouge, LA, a niece Betty Ellen Jenkins of Cedar Rapids and two nephews, William Brown of Rodonda Beach , CA, and Robert Gemmill of Sherburn , MN. Sherman will be missed by many people who have learned to know him for his kindness and willingness to help them. He will be missed most of all by his sister, Alta, as for the past 8 years since the death of their mother, they made their home together in west Sigourney. Mr Brown passed away at the Sigourney Hospital May 5, 1953 at the age of 60 years old. Funeral Services were held Thursday , May 7 and burial was in Pleasant Grive Cemetery where the VFW held military rites.
