Jenkins, resident of Nebraska for 54 years, died at her home in Edgar, Wednesday, April 28, 1934 at 3:50 p.m. Phebe E. Hiser was born May 23, 1855, near Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, Iowa and died at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 25 days, After graduating from the Cedar Falls high school she taught school until she moved with her parents to Nuckolls County, Nebraska in 1880, after which she taught in Nebraska schools until the time of her marriage. She was married to George W. Jenkins at the home of Mrs. Jenkins parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Hiser, in Nuckolls County, Nebraska, January 26, 1882. They settled immediately in Mr. Jenkins' home on his timber claim that he had procured from the government in 1873. They resided on this farm for more than thirty years. There being no children born to this union they raised one foster daughter, Bessie, who died in May 1919. She was married to Pearl Cline whose daughter, Esther Cline, made her home with her grandparents until the time of her marriage. Mrs. Jenkins became member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgar in 1881 and remained faithful to the end. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, George W. Jenkins, one sister, Mrs. Mary S. Watt's, one granddaughter, Mrs. Esther Cline Beck all of Edgar; four great nieces, Esther Herskey of Ingleside, Nebr.; Marion Peterson of Winslow, Arizona; Laura Osborn of Barston Calif., and one living in Chicago and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, April 20, at 2:30 p.m. from the Presbyterian Church, with Rev T. S. Hughes in charge. Interment will be made in the Edgar Cemetery.
