Description	:	PHOEBE ROBERTS TUNING, daughter of Joseph and Rachel Roberts, was born August 25, 1851, at Pleasant Plain, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Greenleaf, Idaho on March 3, 1934, aged 82 years, 6 months, and 6 days. Read More	PHOEBE ROBERTS TUNING, daughter of Joseph and Rachel Roberts, was born August 25, 1851, at Pleasant Plain, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Greenleaf, Idaho on March 3, 1934, aged 82 years, 6 months, and 6 days. On February 19, 1871, she was united in marriage to William R Tuning and to this union was born eight children; John Tuning, Mrs. Eva Presnall, Mrs. Lillie Emry, and Mrs. Nellie Ellis, of Greenleaf, Idaho, Mrs.Mary Thompson, and Rev. David Tuning of Allen, Nebraska; and Orville Tuning of South Sioux City, Nebraska; also a son who died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death on June 10, 1917. Besides seven children, she leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Phineas Roberts, aged 94, of McMinnville, Oregon, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Jones, aged 75, of Allen, Nebraska. Also thirty one grandchildren and thirty nine great grandchildren, besides numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Born a birthright member of Friends, she was converted in early childhood and lived faithful to her Lord and Master through her long life, serving as elder or overseer in the meeting of Springbank, Nebraska for forty years and at this place until failing health prevented. She was an earnest worker in Sunday School, serving as a teacher of one class for eighteen years. In the fall of 1875, she with her husband and two children left the old Iowa home and traveled by wagon to their new home in eastern Nebraska, Homesteading on the raw prairie and going through the Indian scares, prairie fires and all the hardships of the early pioneers. There she lived until the death of her husband, coming to Greenleaf, Idaho in August, 1926, where she remained until the time of her death. Her children remember her devotion as a mother. Her thoughtfulness and care for them and her faith and example as a Christian will long be a blessing to their lives. She was so understanding and ready to give of her advice, sympathy and love to children and grandchildren alike, and they each knew they were daily in her prayers. In the Words of Solomon; "Her children rise up to call her blessed."
