GOODRICH, 80, of Wolf Lake, died at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007 at The Oaks Living Center, Columbia City where he had been a resident since April 11th. He was born October 9, 1926 in Whitley County, Indiana a son of Don C. and Goldie (Adair) Goodrich. At the age of four, his family moved to Noble County. He graduated from Wolf Lake High School. On June 1, 1945 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged November 26, 1945. On April 12, 1952 he was united in marriage to Betty L. Bohnstedt. They made their home in Whitley County for eight years and moved to their home at U.S. 33 and S.R. 109 in Wolf Lake in March 1960. Mrs. Goodrich died June 25, 2003. On September 11, 2004 he was united in marriage to Mary E. (Starkey) Adams. They have always made their home west of Wolf Lake. He was a construction tradesman for 40 years, working for Leininger & Sons 11 years, Bercot & Gibson 23 years and Kreager Bros. for five years. He was a charter member of Wolf Lake Lions Club, former fireman for Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department, former member of Operating Engineers Local 103, served as Noble Township Trustee for 16 years, served on the Noble County Board of Zoning Appeals for eight years and served on the Noble County Sheriff's Merit Board for four years. He attended Sparta Church of Christ. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary; three sons, Kerry (Robin) Goodrich of High Lake, Mark (Tammy) Goodrich of Bear Lake and James (Patricia) Goodrich of Mooresville; four step children, Lynn Adams of Indianapolis, C.J. Adams of Pendleton, Gail Adams of Daytona, Florida and Nancy Jo (Bruce) Sherwood of Summerville, South Carolina; five grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; a great granddaughter; nine step great grandchildren; a brother, Lynn Goodrich of Kimmell; and three sisters, Ellen Metzger of Fort Wayne, Ailsa "Billie" Schuman of Columbia City and Shirley Coy of Topeka. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hale Goodrich and a sister, Aileen Hill. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Sparta Church of Christ, 2584 North U.S. 33, Kimmell with one hour of visitation at the church. The burial will be in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
