When a girl, she gave her heart to God. For... Read More	MRS. SCHAFER PASSES AWAY. Phyllis (sic) Jane Collins was born December 3rd, 1853, at Ft. Recovery, Mercer County, Ohio. She was married to John J. Schafer December 25, 1873, with whom she shared the joys and burdens of life for 39 years, 6 months and 26 days. This union was blessed with ten children, seven girls and three boys. Two little girls passed away in infancy. The husband, eight children, six grand-children, with a host of friends mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother and friend. When a girl, she gave her heart to God. For years she was a faithful member of the Evangelical church uniting with the Methodist church only a short time before her departure. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the Nelson cemetery (sic). How sad is the death of a mother. Who can tell how great a loss it is? The dearest friend we can have is the one whose tender care and unspeakable loved guided our baby footsteps and watched with anxious solicitude our development to man's or woman's estate. Lovingly let us care for our mothers. Soon they will be gone from us and all that will be left will be the empty place that nothing on this wide earth can ever fill. The blessing of her quiet life Fell on us like the dew; And good thoughts, where her footsteps pressed Like fairy blossoms grew. There seems a shadow on the day, Her smile no longer cheers; A dimness on the stars of night Like eyes that look thru tears. Fold her, O Father, in thine arms, And let her henceforth be A messenger of love between Our humans hearts and Tine. By one of the S.W.S. We desire to express our appreciation of the kindness shown us by the friends and neighbors, during the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother and for the many beautiful floral tokens.
