Read More	Death Notice for Phoebe (McNeese) Grammer: Mrs. Phoebe Grammer, of 626 East Main street, died at the family residence this morning, aged fifty-six years, six months and four days. She was the wife of James M. Grammer, and well known in this city, having resided here several years. The deseased leaves a husband and son, the latier Jesse M. Grammer, being a member of the Ottumwa police force. Obituary for Phoebe Grammer: Mrs. Phoebe Grammer On November 10, 1900, at 6:30 a.m. occured the death of Mrs. Phoebe Grammer, wife of James M. Grammer at the family residence, 626 East Main Street, at the age of 56 years 6 months 4 days. She had been in her usual good health up to the time she was stricken with apoplexy at 2:40 Friday morning when she became unconscious and remained in that condition until death. Phoebe McNees was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee, April 6, 1844. When a girl of five years, she came with her parents to Iowa locating at Richland. There she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to James M. Grammer on March 4, 1874. To this union there was born one son Jesse M. Grammer. In 1881 the family left Richland and went to Eddyville, where they resided until four years ago., when they came to Ottumwa. Mrs Grammer was a loving wife and mother, possessing a kind and loving disposition. Besides a large circle of friends and acquaintances, who are deeply grieved to learn of her sudden demise there are left her husband, James M. Grammer, and son Jesse M. Grammer both of this city, and William A. Grammer, of Paris Ill., who is a stepson. Funeral services were conducted from the family residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, by Rev. Gilmore pastor of the Main street Methodist Episcopal church. The remains were laid to rest in Ottumwa cemetery.
