Description	:	Civil War Veteran Name spelled MCNEIS on war records. _______________________________________ Obituary Pleasant McNees was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee, December 28, 1834, and died in Canton, Kansas, January 31, 1894, after an illness of only a few days caused by the grip. Mr. McNees moved while yet a young man to Iowa and at the outbreak of the war enlisted in the 33d regiment of Iowa infantry. Mr. McNees moved while yet a young man to Iowa and at the outbreak of the war enlisted in the 33d regiment of Iowa infantry. He served through the whole strife receiving his discharge on the 17th day of July, 1865. In 1866 he was married to Sitnah Paxton and in June 1876 they moved to Kansas. Thirteen children were born to them, twelve of whom, with the bereaved wife, survive to mourn the loss of a kind and gentle father and a loving husband. Pleasant McNees was one of the early settlers in this township and has always been one of its respected citizens. He made many friends who mourn his loss and extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.C.
