Phyllis was born on March 11, 1914, the daughter of Earl and Glennie (Moffitt) Clark, and lived in the New Carlisle area all her life On October 15, 1938, she married John Hensell in New Carlisle. He preceded her in death in 2001 after 63 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons; Arthur (Diana) Hensell and Phillip Hensell, both of South Bend, and Clark (Mary) of New Carlisle; her sister Erma Campbell of South Bend; her brother Stuart (Carrie) Clark of South Bend and Rev. Dwight (Ann) Clark of Greenville, SC; a step-sister, Shirley Lee of Detroit Lake, MN; and sister-in-law Eunice Clark and Evelyn Schwek, both of New Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Richardes and Patsy VanEmos; and brother, Lawrence, Arthur, John and Vernon. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. At one time, Phyllis operated a beauty shop from her home, and had retired from Easy-Heat after 23 years in the Quality Control Division. She enjoyed the many friendships there as well as the many years of bowling and the friendships of the Women Council of the Community Church where she was a member. She was a member of the Historic New Carlisle. She enjoyed reading, TV, puzzles, and watching the many birds at her feeder, but most of all the beautiful sunrises and the change of seasons from her large kitchen window The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dawn and Healthwin Specialized Care for all the care she received. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 26th, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, and services will be at the Kaniewski Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 27th at 11 a.m. E.D.T.
