Description	:	Pierce (Pearce) Bowman CAIN was the third of twelve children born to Cathern (Sumney) and Levi Cain of Freeport, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He met Sarah Emma Findley of Ohio, and they were married in Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa on February 21, 1883 according to the LDS records. They had five children; Claude born in 1884, Fred born 1886, Lorena born 1887, and twins Robert and Adda born 1893. The 1900 Federal Census shows all the children being born in Ohio. B. Cain, 69 YEARS OLD, PASSESS AWAY; FUNERAL HERE TUESDAY P. B. Cain, a resident of Ottumwa for many years and formerly superintendent of the parks here, died this morning at 2:30 o'clock at the family home, 201 North Market street. He was 69 years of age, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Cain, daughters, Mrs. Lorene Olney, of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Ada McElroy, south of the city; sons, Claude and Robert Cain, both of this city, and three grandchildren, Arthur Olney, Fred Eugene Cain Jr., and Jean Elizabeth McElroy, all of Ottumwa. One son, Fred, died November 23, 1918, while in a naval training station at Brooklyn N. Y. Mr. Cain had made his home in Ottumwa for the last thirty-two years, and had lived in Iowa for forty-nine years. He was superintendent of the county farm in Page county, Iowa, before hfamily number: 9e came to Ottumwa. For a period of fifteen years, ending two years ago because of his failing health, Mr. Cain was superintendent of the local parks. Mr. Cain was born December 16, 1853, at Butler, Pa. He was married in 1883 at Ottumwa to Miss Emma Finley. She came here from Red Oak in 1872. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the residence. Rev. William Ramsey, pastor of the First Congregational church, will be in charge and internment will be in Ottumwa cemetery. CAIN FUNERAL Funeral services for P. B. Cain were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the family home, 201 North Market street. Rev. W. C. He married Lucile May Fenton in 1911 in Vancouver, BC. He was a carpenter foreman in Ottumwa, IA, in 1918. He & "Lulu" lost an infant son (Richard) to pneumonia in 1920 & were divorced by 1930 when she was living with her mother & he, with his sister Lorene & her husband in Los Angeles, CA. He married a Lillian Prentice (married name) & divorced her all in the 1930s. In 1940 he was living in Helena, MT, still working as a carpenter contractor. Living with him was Louis Prentice, one of the "sons" listed in his obit. By 1942 he was in Seattle & unemployed (when he signed in with the WWII Draft Board). He then started a hardware store in Pacific Beach, Grays Harbor, WA, where he died 2 Mar 1956. Lillian's 3 hildren by her previous marriage were listed as his. (She died in Dec 1948.) Fred Lafayette Cain was born in 20 Sep 1885 & died 23 Nov 1918. He was buried in Ottumwa, IA, along with his parents, his sister Adda, & brother Robert. On 12 Sep 1918, he gave his permanent address to the WWI Draft Board as Ottumwa, IA, but was working as an appraiser in Milwaukee, WI. He apparently never married (& may have been a victim of the 1918 flu epidemic?). Lorene Elizabeth Cain was born 10 May 1887 in Iowa & died 2 Jul 1954 in Los Angeles, CA. She married Arthur Olney (1883-1944). They had 1 son, Arthur, who was 14 in 1940. Adda Catherine Cain was born 26 Oct 1893 in Iowa & died in Ottumwa, IA 7 Feb 1983. She married Robert Owen McElroy (1884-1973), & they had 3 girls. Robert Emmett Cain was born in Ottumwa, IA 26 Oct 1893 & died in Des Moines, IA 20 Apr 1961. He married Margaret Ann Chandler (1896-1952), & togetherr they raised 4 children. He gave his occupation as carpenter in 1918 & sander in 1930.
