Son of George Washington Cackler and Margaret Ann Chandler OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 12, 1936 PLEASANT A. CACKLER Pleasant A. Cackler, son of George Washington and Margaret Cackler, was born in Ottercreek township, Lucas county, Iowa, on July 7, 1870, and departed this life at 4:25 p.m. on March 6, 1936, at his home in Liberty township, near Oakley, at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 29 days. His illness was of long duration.' His complete life was spent in Lucas county. On March 10, 1895, he was united in marriage with Miss Ida M. Burgett, who survives him. To their union eight children were born. Two sons and one daughter died in infancy. Those living are Ora Cackler, of Norwood; Ralph Cackler, of Oakley; Delbert Cackler, of Derby; Winford and Clovie Cackler, of Oakley. During his illness he was converted to the Christian faith and baptized by Rev. O. O. Hobson, pastor of the Chariton United Brethren church. Although unable to attend church he was a regular listener to sermons over the radio. His first thought was always of his family and he took especial delight in his four grandchildren and in their welfare. He was always willing and ready to lend a helping hand to all, though at times it meant a sacrifice on account of his failing health. His memory will long be cherished by those near and dear to him. He leaves to mourn their loss, besides his immediate family, one sister, Mrs. E. J. Glass, of Lemmon, South Dakota, and two brothers, C. C. Cackler, of Ottumwa, and W. B. Cackler, of Chariton. Rev. O. O. Hobson officiated at the funeral services held at the Norwood U. B. church last Sunday afternoon, and burial was in the Fletcher cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
