Cackler was born in Knox County, Illinois, on June 30, 1859 and departed this life on Wednesday, February 23, 1931. He was 71 years, 7 months and 25 days old. He was the fourth son of ten children of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Cackler. In the early part of his boyhood, he came with his parents to Muscatine, Iowa. Later he moved to Lucas County where he resided until death claimed him. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary A. Haltom in 1891. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Jesse Crooks. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, Mary A., and one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Crooks, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Pearl Bales and Gerald Crooks; also three brothers and one sister, William and P.A. Cackler, of Oakley, IA; and Chris of Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Mahala Glass of Lemon, South Dakota, and a host of neighbors and friends. Those preceding him in death were his mother and father and three brothers, Samuel, Ryun and Bennie and two sisters, Dora and Mary. Funeral services were held at the Norwood M.E. church on Friday, followed by interment in the Fletcher Cemetery. (Actual burial was in the Norwood Cemetery.)
