CUNNINGHAM P.F. CUNNINGHAM (sic. Pliny Fisk CUNNINGHAM), who removed to this city from Centerville last summer, died at his home on South Main street Sunday morning at 5 o'clock. He had been in ill health for several months, a sufferer from dilatation of the heart, and for eight weeks or more had been confined to his room. Mr. CUNNINGHAM was a native of Marshall county, Tenn., and was in the sixth-seventh year of his age. He came to Iowa in 1853 and lived in Davis county for many years, removing afterwards to Ottumwa and thence to Centerville. He was married in Davis county to Miss Etta SHOEMAKER (sic. Marietta SHOEMAKER), who survives him. Three children are also living in this city, Mrs. Chas. D. LEGGETT (sic. Beatrice), Miss May (sic. Ida May) and Miss Florence CUNNINGHAM, the latter a teacher in the Centerville schools. Mr. CUNNINGHAM had been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years, and was also a Mason and a Knight Templar. He was a man of excellent character and most exemplary habits. Funeral services were held at the family residence yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. J.F. Magill and Rev. L.O. Kembie conducting the exercises. The remains were interred with masonic honors in the Evergreen cemetery. -------- Note: A grandson, John R Moss is also buried in this plot. The burial location of his parents is not yet known to this contributor. Information about their burial location would be appreciated.
