Read More	In Memory of Roswell Dalley Schenck January 12, 1916 - September 12, 2017 Roswell Dalley "Sam" Schenck, of Red Bluff, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, at the age of 101 years and 8 months, to the day! Ros was born on January 12, 1916 in Highland Park, New Jersey, to Walter and Anna, the third of four children. Siblings were Myrtle Mae (Billie), Walter (Bud), and Robert (Bob). Ros was active in the Baptist Church, including choir, and participated in sports while attending New Brunswick High School. Ros attended Middlebury College in Vermont, where he played football, but left to join the U.S Navy and World War II. Ros married Helen Miller in 1942. His son, Roswell was born in 1943. During his enlistment, he served in all major arenas: escorting troop transports to Murmansk, Russia; as Patton's artillery off North Africa; providing coverage for troop landing at Salerno; numerous engagements in the Pacific; and mine-sweeping in Tokyo Bay. Upon his return stateside, Ros joined the mining business, working for Hercules Powder, Celanese Corp., and U.S. Potash/U.S. Borax & Chemical Co. in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Daughter Margaret Ann arrived in 1954 and the family moved to Los Angeles in 1958. In 1972, Ros married Marian Albright Ford, and in 1989 moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they enjoyed 25 wonderful years. Ros busied himself building miniature dollhouses and decorative wine-cork clocks, playing golf, and collecting fine wines. Ros and Marian moved to Red Bluff in 2014, to live close to Marian's daughter and her family. He is predeceased by his sweetheart, Marian, and his son, Roswell. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Margaret Ann Schenck, Roswell's wife, Judy, and by his four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Marian's children, Susan and husband Scott Isaacson, and John and wife, Cindy Ford have loved him for many years. He is also considered Grandpa Sam to Marian's five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Ros will be honored with a full military ceremony at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California, on November 6, 2017, followed by a celebration of his remarkable life in Red Bluff.
