Description	:	Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the United Methodist Church for George H. Bernard, 76, with the pastor Rev. Donald Forbes officiating. Burial was in the French Cemetery at Woolstock. Mr. Bernard became suddenly ill at his home Sunday morning and died in an ambulance enroute to a Fort Dodge hospital. He is survived by his wife, four sons: Russell of Cedar Falls; Melvin of Maquoketa; Kenneth, Minnetonka, Minn.; Jerald of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Mrs. James Stevenson, Goldfield. OBITUARY George Henry Bernard was born April 17, 1897, at Woolstock, Ia.. the son of Adolph and Caroline Marshall Bernard. He was educated in the rural Woolstock school. George entered the Army in 1918 and served in the Engineer Corps until 1919. He returned home from service and farmed for a number of years. In recent years, he has worked as a carpenter, and retired from this in 1962. He had spent much time at his hobbies of hunting and fishing and enjoyed fishing in Minnesota every year. He was an excellent mechanic as well and could repair machines as well as being a carpenter. On October 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jessie Sharrar Black of Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove on South East 5th St. George became ill at his home Sunday morning, was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He passed away enroute to the hospital. He is survived by his wife; four sons: Russell Bernard, Cedar Falls; Melvin Bernard, Maquoketa; Kenneth Bernard, Minnetonka, Minn.; Jerald Bernard, Cedar Falls; and a step-son, Raymond Black, Jr., Fort Dodge; one daughter, Eilleen, Mrs. James Stevenson, Goldfield; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Reuben Olson, Cedar Falls; and Mrs. Opal Norman, Friendswood, Tex.; one brother, Harry Bernard, Squaw Lake, Minn.; three sisters: Mabel Bernard, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Morris Fritts, Chatham, N. J.; Mrs. Gladys Comstock, Eagle Grove; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. George was a member of the American Legion Post, Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Forbes officiated, and burial was in the French Cemetery, Woolstock.
