Stouffer and Anna Elizabeth Myers Stouffer of Edgemont. He was the grandson of Elder Abraham and Elizabeth Newcomer Stouffer, and the great-grandson of Preacher John and Elizabeth Winkle Stouffer, who were instrumental in the settling of the tiny village of Edgemont in the late 1700s. Stouffer and Anna Elizabeth Myers Stouffer of Edgemont. He was the grandson of Elder Abraham and Elizabeth Newcomer Stouffer, and the great-grandson of Preacher John and Elizabeth Winkle Stouffer, who were instrumental in the settling of the tiny village of Edgemont in the late 1700s. They also were instrumental in the establishment of the Stouffer Mennonite Church, whose address is listed as Edgemont. John Stouffer and his son, Abraham, built the two oldest homes in Edgemont and raised their families there. Henry married Margaret Kuhn, and the couple had seven children. The oldest was Clara Stouffer Middlekauff Dennis; then Alice Stouffer Gibson; then Charles "Ed" Stauffer, Mary Grace "Molly" Stouffer (Ed) Tenney; Anna Stouffer (Will) Zeigler; John Henry "Jack" Stouffer; and Dillon Myers Randolph Stouffer. Henry was a veteran of the Civil War, having served with Company L, 1st Maryland PHB Cavalry from November 1864 until June 1865. Both before and after the war, Henry farmed his land. After the tracks were laid through Edgemont, Henry went to work for the Western Maryland Railway. He died in 1921 in Hagerstown, Maryland, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Ed Tenney. Ed Tenney was the builder and first owner of the Edgemont Country Store, as well as the Edgemont postmaster for a number of years. He later became postmaster at Hagerstown, Maryland.
