Description	:	Charles Edward "Ed" Stauffer was born in Edgemont, Maryland, the son of Henry Myers Stauffer and Margaret Kuhn Stauffer. He was married to Bertha Swarbrick whose family hailed from Lancashire, England. Ed and Bertha were the parents of five children: Charles Edward Stauffer, Jr.(1989-1975), Alice May Larimore (1894-1986), Grace Evelyn Fulton (1902-2000), Margaret Elizabeth Mauger (1906-2000), and John Stauffer (1906-1915). Ed and Bertha were the parents of five children: Charles Edward Stauffer, Jr.(1989-1975), Alice May Larimore (1894-1986), Grace Evelyn Fulton (1902-2000), Margaret Elizabeth Mauger (1906-2000), and John Stauffer (1906-1915). All but one, Margaret Mauger, is buried at Welty's Cemetery. Ed Stauffer worked all of his life as a telegrapher and agent for the Western Maryland Railway, working first at Hagerstown, then New York City, where two of his children were born. He then returned to Edgemont, and in later years, worked at both Wingerton and Waynecastle. Both Ed and Bertha, as well as all their daughters, were members of the Plymouth Brethren Church of Waynesboro. Both Ed and Bertha died at their Edgemont home, just days apart, in 1952. Their children, Ed, Jr., May Larimore, Grace Fulton and John Stauffer are also buried at Welty Cemetery. Margaret Stauffer Mauger is buried in Houston, Texas, where she died in 2000. Her husband, Arthur, is buried in Rutherford, New Jersey, where they made their home for more than fifty years.
