Crossan, one of Canonsburg's best known citizens and most highly respected business men, died at the West Penn hospitaI,Pittsburg, Monday evening, March 12, aged 63 years. Mr. Crossan had been in ill health for a considerable length of time, although he was able to attend to business until about three weeks ago, when he went to the hospital for treatment. Mr. Crossan was a native of Canonsburg and here he lived all his life. When a young man he learned the trade of a tinner, and he was in the tin roofing business for many years. Mr. Crossan had the reputation of being an excellent workman, and of using only the best material. A number of years ago he quit the roofing business and opened a variety store which he continued to conduct in a successful manner until the time of his death. Mr. Crossan in early manhood married a Miss Jackson, a sister of John W. Jackson of this place and of W. H. Jackson of Houstonville, by whom he had five children. Two of these are dead. The survivors are Frank of Pittsburg, and Harry and Thomas of this place. Mrs. Crossan also survives. In 1864 Mr. Crossan enlisted in the Independent Battery, Company G, and served until the close of the war. He was a member of Paxton Post, No. 120, G. A. R., and the members of the Post will attend the funeral in a body. Mr. Crossan was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and a regular attendant, while in health, upon its services. He was a quiet, genial, kindly man, a man of good principle, and one who had many friends. The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church, West Pike-st, tomorrow at 2 o'clock, and will be conducted by Paxton Post. The interment will be in Speer Spring cemetery.
