Description	:	HERO LAID TO REST The body of Leo Haremza, the first Sherman County soldier boy to fall in action in France during the World War arrived at Ashton last Saturday. The funeral under the auspices of the Local Legion Post assisted by the Posts of Farwell and Loup City and the Ashton Band took place Monday forenoon, from the home. The services were conducted in the St. Francis church where Rev. Jarzemski the pastor delivered a beautiful and appropriate sermon. Leo Haremza was born and raised in Howard county and was a young man of great promise and one who counted his friends by the numbers of those whom he knew. When it became known that our great nation had declared war against the Central powers he was one of the first to cheerfully volunteer his services in its behalf and left those most near and dear to him to take up arms in his country's defense. He was one of the first to cross the sea, where he fell nobly defending his country's flag. Leo Haremza was but a boy at the time of his demise, but he had accomplished more in those few years than the average man could have, who had lived to a ripe old age. He had upheld the honor of his country even unto death. Fought for an ideal in a foreign land that the orphan and widows of that war torn land retain their homes in freedom and peace and that the demon war should be forever vanquished from the earth.
