JOHNSON Third Member of Family To Die in Past 6 Months The funeral for Palmer Martin Johnson, age 36, who died on March 1, 1945 in a Veteran's hospital in Chicago, was held last Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the First Lutheran Church in Litchville, with Rev. J. E. Lee officiating. Mrs. Bernt Christianson sang three solos. It was a semi-military funeral service. Serving as pallbearers were: Henry Offerdahl, Fred Songberg, Merrill Anderson, W. A. Anderson, Chris Olson and Emil Alber, all veterans of World War I. Ole Nypen and Egon Boelter were color bearers; C. J. Kuhn had charge of a firing squad from Co. F composed of Sgt. A.G. Korsmo, Cpl. Harold Davidson, Jr. Cpl. LeRoy Lutz and John Heninnger. Clyde Emery and Ray Anderson served as color guards and Palmer Miles, member of SV12 was the bugler. The remains were buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery west of town where both of the parents of the deceased had been laid to rest in the past six months. Palmer Johnson was born on the family farm in Greenland Township on August 2, 1909, being the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole B. Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Bethlehem Church. As a boy and in early young manhood, he lived in this, his home community, but some fifteen years ago left for Chicago where he has been ever since. He entered the Army for training in November (?); in August 1944 he received a medical discharge, following which he became a patient at a veteran's hospital in Chicago. Surviving are two daughters: Verletta and Shirley; one son, Richard; four brothers: Melvin of Tacoma, Wash.; Peter of Missoula, Mont.; Henry of Mott, N. Dak.; and Carl of Litchville and three sisters: Mrs. L. G. Johnson of Fargo; Mrs. C. J. Nybeck of West Fargo and Hazel, Litchville. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND. March 1945.
