Description	:	obit donated by Martha Long Rachel McMinn, 87, of Freeport, Ill., and formerly of Vinton, died Saturday, Sep. 13. 2003, at Stevenson Nursing Center in Freeport, following a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Thursday, Sept. 18. at Mt. Auburn Cemetery with the Rev. John Karrick officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established. Overton-Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home of Vinton is handling arrangements. Rachel Ann McMinn was born Oct. 19, 1915 in Vinton to Kelso and Ethel (Brody) Oliver. She married Edward McMinn. He preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. McMinn attended school in Mt. Auburn and Iowa City. She worked as a waitress at Brown Cafe in Vinton for several years. She then moved to Clinton, where she worked at JC Penney's as a bookkeeper. She later moved to Freeport, Ill., where she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. McMinn is survived by three sisters, Valroy Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Janette Lenius of Winnsboro, Texas, and Donna Gardner of Salem, Ore; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one brother Bryon Oliver and one sister Kathryn Kondora. Tersea
