Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Jan 22, 1926 - Pg 1 Aged Pioneer Passes On To Final Reward ----- Mrs Casterline Dies Monday After Long Illness Another pioneer resident of this community passed to the great beyond, when Mrs. Rachel M. Casterline died last Monday. Coming to Edgar when the town was in its infant stage, she, with her husband the late Dr. T. E. Casterline, helped materially in shaping the town's fraternal, social and religious affairs. She had a pleasing personality which she used to the best advantage and made her a potent factor in whatever she was engaged in, and, until age began to exact its toll, she was prominent in the building of this community. As a member of the Rebekahs she for many years was one of the most prominent members, and no doubt has filled every chair in that organization, at various times in her career. An escort of the local organization were in attendance at the services. Memorial Day will not seem quite the same without her as she was ** of the faithful few who could always be seen on that day with the W. R. C.. doing honor to the heroic dead of the Civil War and other wars. So has she gone and in going behind her leaves the cherished memory of a work well done. Rachel M. Huff was born in Hancock County, Ohio, June 4, 1844 and departed this life at Edgar, Nebraska, January 18, 1926. Aged 81 years, 7 months and 14 days. In 1848 she came to Peoria County, Illinois with her parents where she lived until she was 16, then moved to Henry, Ill. On the 3rd of January, 1870, she was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Thomas E. Casterlline. In the fall of 1877 they moved to Edgar, Nebraska, where she has resided ever since. Two children were born to this union, Millie F. and R. W. E. Casterline. Her husband preceded her to the better land, October 31, 1913 and her son was taken March 8, 1922. There are left to mourn her loss, her daughter, Mrs. Millie F. Cottle of Edgar, Nebraska; her grandson Clyde C., a stepson, F. J. Casterline and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs Casterline united with the church, February 12, 1888 and remained a faithful member until her demise. She has been a hard and persistent worker, a loving and self-sacrificing mother, and a valued leader of community life and activity. She will be missed by a host of her dearest friends and neighbors, both young and old, who will miss her helpful council and her hearty good cheer. The whole community joins the sympathy with the bereaved family. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church, Wednesday morning January 20, 1926 at 10 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. A. S.
