DEATH SUMMONS RALEIGH PARKER RITES ARE HELD LAST FRIDAY AT LE MARS FOR FORMER AKRON MAN Raleigh Parker, 55, a life-long resident of Plymouth county, who lived in Akron a number of years ago, died Wednesday, September 18, 1940, at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars following a sickness of several weeks. Mr. Parker suffered an injury to his foot when he stepped on a nail and infection set in, causing gangrene in his limb. Following an operation, he showed sings of improvement for a time and then suffered a relapse. Raleigh Parker was born August 29, 1885, on a farm southwest of Le Mars, and was a son of William Parker, a soldier of the Civil War. Going to Le Mars when a youth, he followed the trade of a barber and was engaged in the occupation when stricken with illness. He leaves to mourn his death his brother, William Parker, of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Butler, of Jefferson, S. D.; Mrs. Kate Moore and Mrs. Anna Oaks of Westfield. The funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Mauer funeral chapel in Le Mars, and interment made in the city cemetery there. Mr. Parker's many friends in Akron vicinity were sorry to hear of his death and extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Mr. Parker was held in respect by all who knew him.
