RALPH SCHEPERS FORMER SHELTON BUSINESSMAN DIES Ralph Schepers, 73, of Shelton, died Tuesday, September 21, 1993, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Shelton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Alloway officiating. Burial will be at the Shelton Cemetery with military rites graveside by the Shelton American Legion Post #297. Memorials are suggested to the church or Shelton Emergency Unit. Visitation will be 7-9 PM today at the Shelton United Methodist Church. He was born June 7, 1920, in Anselmo, Nebraska, to Barney and Edith Houghton Schepers. He later moved to Shelton, where he graduated from high school in 1939. On June 30, 1940, when he was age 20, he married Shirley McRoberts and served in the US Army in Europe during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning to Shelton he owned and operated a blacksmith shop with his father-in-law. In 1960, Ralph and Shirley then purchased the Shelton Jack and Jill store, where he worked until retirement in 1980. His memberships included: the Shelton United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Cement Lodge #211 A.F. & A.M., American Legion Post #297, I OOF Lodge #141, BPOE Lodge #984 of Kearney, the Shelton Lions Club, the Shelton Fire Department, and the School Board of Education. Survivors include his wife; son George; daughters Edith (Darwin) Wicht and Diana (Clyde)Frank; sister Margaret (Wesley) Hall; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
