He was born May 3, 1926 at Independence to Wiley Edgar Taylor and Maude Daniel Taylor. He was employed by the Supreme Court of Virginia, twenty-seventh district, serving as Magistrate for Grayson County and the City of Galax. He was born May 3, 1926 at Independence to Wiley Edgar Taylor and Maude Daniel Taylor. He was employed by the Supreme Court of Virginia, twenty-seventh district, serving as Magistrate for Grayson County and the City of Galax. Mr. Taylor was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Independence and a fifty year member of the Independence Lions Club. He was a member of Independence Masonic Lodge #129 A.F. & A.M., and Kazim Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Roanoke, Independent Order of Eastern Star Chapter #89, Independence. Surviving are his wife, Patsy Phipps Taylor of the home; a cousin and family, Rev. Joe Mack Taylor and family of Radford and Independence; a goddaughter, Karli Miniclier of Independence; several other cousins also survive. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church of Independence with the Rev. Fred E. Jennings and the Rev. Kathie Wilson-Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery. The body will lie in state at church one hour preceding the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic rites will be conducted at graveside by Independence Masonic Lodge #129 A.F. & A.M. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Independence Lions Club Sight Conservation Program, c / o Mrs. Janie Butler, P.O. Box 644, Independence, Va. 24348.
