Read More	Ralph Fowles, Sr. died suddenly of heart disease on Tuesday, January 2, 1923 at 10:30 o'clock, at his farm, where he had gone to care for his cattle. The news of his sudden death is a great shock to the entire community. Ralph Fowles was born in the village of Whitchurch, Shropshire, England on April 20, 1850. At the age of 21 years he came to America, spending his 21st birthday on board ship and settled on his farm 6 1/2 miles northwest of Wakefield. Five years later he returned to England married Miss Marian Kidman, and they came back to make their home in the United States. Since then, Mr. and Mrs. Fowles have made two visits to England. Mr. Fowles leaves to mourn their loss, a wife, three sons, three daughters, twelve grandchildren and a host of friends. The children are: John, Ralph Jr., Bert, Mrs. Annie Munston, Mrs. Winifred Hammond, and Mrs. Elizabeth Yarrow. He had been identified with St. John's church since its organization and was its treasurer for twenty years and took great interest in all that pertained to the welfare of his community. He moved to Wakefield two years ago and was always generous, kind and friendly and will be much missed by all who knew him best. The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Friday morning from St. George's Episcopal Church at Wakefield and interment was made in the Wakefield Cemetery. Rev. William Whittle conducted the services. It is with regret the The Times records the passing of so many of the old settlers in this county.
