Kettman, 74, 3841 Eaton Rd., a member of a pioneer & prominent Butler County family, died Monday at 5:45 pm in Fort Hamilton Hospital where he had been a patient since Dec. 30th. Although in failing health for 15 years, his death was unexpected. He was born in Butler County on March 15, 1895, a son of Frank & Josephine Lagedrost Kettman. He was educated in St. Joseph School. Mr. Kettman was baptized & confirmed in St. Joseph Church. Mr. Kettman worked at the family established business known as the Kettman Dairy which was located on Goos Rd. During World War I, he enlisted in the U.S. Army & served with the American Expeditionary Forces for 14 months with the 322nd Field Artillery. Later he was a crane operator with Mosler. He married Frances Welsh on May 10, 1922 & the couple enjoyed over 47 years of marriage. He was most proud of his only daughter, Gertrude. He operated a farm at 900 Taylor-School Rd. He was active in rural endeavors & gave generously of his means & support to his rural neighbors. He was highly respected for his ability & integrity. He was a member of Collinsville Grange, a former member of the Izaak Walton League, a life member of the DAV, member of Durwin-Schantz Post 138, American Legion, & Campbell Gard Post 1069, Veterns of Foreign Wars. Mr. Kettman had been a member of St. Mary Church since his marriage. He was devoted to his wife & family. He leaves his wife, Frances Kettman; a daughter, Mrs. Buck (Gertrude) Glover; a granddaughter, Melanie Lee Glover, grandson Allen Scott Glover; two brothers, Charles Kettman, & Clifford Kettman; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Cecelia) Finnan & Miss Romilda Kettman, all of Hamilton; & many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Peggy Glover; three brothers, Eugene, Clarence & Arnold Kettman; & two sisters, Mary & Cornelia Kettman. Funeral services are tentatively set for Thursday at 9:30 am in the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. Third St. with funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-9 pm.
