He had been a patient there for several weeks, and while it was known that his condition was critical, his death was a shock to relatives and friends here. Read More	LEO MCCREADY DIED AT PERRY POINT Veteran Had Been Ill For Several Weeks Mr. Ralph Leo McCready died in the Veterans Hospital at Perry Point, Md. on Monday of this week. He had been a patient there for several weeks, and while it was known that his condition was critical, his death was a shock to relatives and friends here. He was the son of Mrs. Beatrice McCready and the late Orace McCready, and was 27 years of age. Mr. McCready was one of the finest young men in the community, liked and respected by everyone. For a good many years he took part in church work, and for the past four years had taught a Sunday School Class in Mariner's Methodist church, of which he was a member. A little more than a year age he was made superintendent of the Sunday School and had been elected president of the Mariner's Methodist Youth Fellowship group. He served three years with the United States Army overseas during World War II receiving his basic training in the Hawaiian Islands, after which he served with the 1341st Engineers in the Pacific area. On his return from the service, he became part owner of the Crisfield Taxi Company. He reposed at his home or North First street until 12.00 p.m. Thursday, when he was moved to Mariner's church and lay in state until 2.20 p.m., when funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. L. Knotts, assisted by Rev. Hufnal of Eden, Md. Interment was in the family lot in Asbury cemetery. Bearers were Ewell Daugherty, George Lawson, Richard Landon, Alonza Nelson, Frank Ward, Jr., and Ralph Morris, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Beatrice McCready, one sister, Mrs. Iola Crockett and four brothers, Maxwell McCready, Lawson McCready, Jerry McCready and Donald McCready, and two grandmothers, Mrs. Margaret Lawson and Mrs. Nancy McCready.
