Description	:	This community received a severe shock Tuesday afternoon in the death of Rasmus Petersen. Mr. Petersen was driving his car from his home to the P. O. Petersen home, where a picnic was being held, reaching the place shortly after dinner. Mr. Petersen was driving his car from his home to the P. O. Petersen home, where a picnic was being held, reaching the place shortly after dinner. Pedersen was summoned, but nothing could be done. Death was caused by Heart failure. Other occupants of the car were Mrs. Rasmus Petersen, wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Niels Sorensen and son Edwin. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Lutheran church in Dannebrog. The Dannebrog News, August 17, 1916, page 8, transcribed by Linda Berney ------------------- The funeral of Rasmus Pedersen, who suddenly died from heart failure Tuesday of last week, while at a picnic held at the home of P. O. Petersen, was conducted from the home last Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church, Rev. J. Chr. Petersen officiating. Interment was made in Oak Ridge cemetery. Rasmus Pedersen was born in Kjong on Fyen, Denmark, June 10, 1852. He migrated to this country in 1881, coming direct to Howard county. Two years later he was married to Karen Larsen at St. Paul. To this union was born three sons and three daughters of which one son and one daughter has died. The other children are married and reside in the vicinity of Dannebrog. Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen made their home on their farm southeast of this place until last April when they moved to town.
