Grimes, 80, of McKnightstown, Pa., died Friday, March 30, 2007, at York Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1926, in Mount Airy, he was the son of the late Albert and Edith Harrison Grimes. He was the husband of Mary Gladhill Grimes. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He owned and operated the South Mountain Farm in McKnightstown for many years. He was a member and president of the Pa. Charolais Association, Maryland Trapshooters Association, Adams County, Pa. Beef Producers and Cattlemen's Beef Association. He was also a member and director of The National Cattlemen's Beef Association, member of American Legion Post 191 in Mount Airy, Adams County Fish and Game Association, charter and life member of the Mount Airy IWLA, chairman of The Pa. Beef Council, former member of the Mount Airy volunteer fire company, a scoutmaster for Troop 460 in Mount Airy for 25 years and was a life member and president of the Colonial Charolais Association. He was a member of Mount Airy Calvary United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Mike Rhodes of Woodbine, Judith Davis of Sanford, Fla., and Joanne and Steve Davis of Mount Airy; stepdaughters Ginny Rinehart and husband Dave of Gettysburg, Pa., and Willie Heckman and husband Jerry of Biglerville, Pa.; stepsons Scott Davis and wife Debbie of Coral Springs, Fla., and John Davis of Harrisburg, Pa.; grandchildren Julie and Heidi Davis, Jake Heckman, Marlin Rhodes, Jennifer Snyder and husband Dave, Mark Rhodes and wife Becky, Sam and Miles Rinehart and Erin Ruth Huntsberry and husband Jimmy; nephews Robert and Allen Grimes; and great-granddaughter Greta Snyder. He was predeceased by first wife Martha Hood Grimes; son Lawrence A. Grimes; and brother Donald F. Grimes. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Airy Calvary United Methodist Church in Mount Airy, with the Revs. Wallace Lusk and Dennis Yocum officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, Pa., and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
